ChatGPT and Claude in Uzbekistan: do they work, how to pay

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini officially work in Uzbekistan. Plan prices in USD, which payment methods are confirmed, free options and the risks of middlemen.

ChatGPT and Claude in Uzbekistan: do they work, how to pay

Short answer (data as of 12 October 2026):

  • ChatGPT, the OpenAI API, Claude.ai and the Anthropic API are officially available in Uzbekistan: the country is on both companies' supported-country lists, and you do not need a VPN to sign in;
  • both services have free tiers, and paid plans start with the cheap Go tier, and the main Plus and Claude Pro plans cost 20 dollars;
  • payment is the hard part: Claude's web subscription accepts only credit and debit cards, and I found no official confirmation that Humo or Uzcard cards go through.

If you just want to try, start with the free tier: it needs no card. Paying makes sense once free limits run out, and then the choice is a card from an international payment system, a subscription through the App Store or Google Play, or a middleman. The last one is the riskiest, and I explain why below.

Do they work in Uzbekistan

Yes. Uzbekistan appears on the official ChatGPT supported-countries list in the OpenAI Help Center; in the copy from 11 October 2026 the page is marked as updated about two months earlier. Uzbekistan is also on the OpenAI API list. Anthropic says Claude.ai, the API and the developer platform are available only in the listed countries, and Uzbekistan is one of them. Google's Gemini works too: Uzbekistan and the Uzbek language are on the Gemini app list.

In practice you can sign up with your own phone number and email. If a service still shows "unsupported country", check whether a VPN is on: per OpenAI's help page this error appears when you sign up or create an API key from a location not on the list.

What the plans cost

Prices are in US dollars as the vendors state them. The final amount for Uzbekistan may differ because of taxes and exchange rates.

  • ChatGPT. Free: no charge. Plus: 20 dollars a month. Pro: from 100 dollars, and the top tiers change, so check the pricing page. The Go plan launched in Uzbekistan in October 2025 at 5 dollars a month; that is the launch price and it may have risen since, so check the current one in the app.
  • Claude. Free: no charge. Pro: 20 dollars a month billed monthly, or 17 dollars on an annual plan (200 dollars upfront). Max: from 100 dollars a month. Team: from 20 dollars per seat on annual billing.
  • API (for developers) is billed separately by usage; it is not part of a ChatGPT subscription, and for Claude check the pricing page for terms.

For texts, emails and spreadsheets, one 20 dollar plan or the free tier is usually enough. The 100 dollar tiers and above are for people who work with AI several hours a day.

How to pay from Uzbekistan

Some of this is officially confirmed and some is not.

Confirmed. Claude's web subscription accepts only credit or debit cards. Subscriptions bought in the iOS and Android apps are paid through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and the store decides the payment methods. ChatGPT works the same way: cards on the website, app stores in the mobile app. For Uzbekistan, Apple lists "most credit and debit cards". Apple Pay, according to podrobno.uz on 2 July 2026, started working in the country, but only with cards from foreign banks.

Not confirmed. Neither OpenAI nor Anthropic names Humo or Uzcard among payment methods. Whether a Visa or Mastercard from a specific Uzbek bank works on their sites depends on the bank and on whether international online payments are enabled for the card. I found no single answer, so the honest check is this: call your bank, ask about paying foreign online services in dollars and about limits, then buy a one-month trial subscription.

A third route, a dollar virtual card, exists, but issuing terms depend on the provider and your documents, and rules for Uzbek residents change. Check them with the provider itself, not with a guide written for another country.

Free options and alternatives

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all have free tiers. Their limits and models change, so look at the plan page on the day you sign up. For most beginner tasks this is enough: rewriting an email, analysing a table, outlining a presentation.

Gemini's plus is that Uzbek is officially among the supported languages. If you need to write and check texts in Uzbek, run the same request in two or three services and compare the results yourself. There is no single best chatbot; it depends on the task.

Risks: when not to rush

  • Shared accounts and buying "access" from a middleman. Anthropic's terms explicitly forbid sharing login details and keys, and "make your Account available to anyone else". An account that is bought or shared can be blocked together with your chats and files. If a middleman asks for your password, that is handing over the account.
  • Data in the chat. Do not paste contracts, clients' passport data, passwords or confidential documents into a public chat. This rule matters more than the choice of plan.
  • Paying for a year upfront. Until you have checked that the card goes through and that the features are enough for you, take a monthly plan.
  • Income promises. A 20 dollar subscription does not earn money by itself. Income comes from skill and clients, not from access.

What to do today

  1. Sign up for the free ChatGPT or Claude tier and solve two or three real work tasks.
  2. If you hit the limits, ask your bank about international online payments and buy a one-month plan.
  3. Check the current price in your account: plans change.

If you want to learn to work with AI systematically rather than by trial and error, Mars IT School has an adult course, Mars AI Operator. In the first week it helps with paying for and registering foreign services. Pre-registration is open now and the start date will be announced later; you can leave a request at ai.marsit.uz.
